Dec. 28th– NO Meeting- School Closed

Next Troop Meeting 7:30 PM – Friday January 4, 2013 – Knot of the Month: “Bowline”

We must know if you are attending our Camping Trip to Winnebago, New Jersey for cabin camping. The trip is on January 11, 12, and 13, with a cost of $30 per person. If you plan on attending you must turn in your PERMISSION FORM [Click Here] and payment. This is the cutoff date if  you want to attend and the only meeting before the trip to prepare. We need a confirmation Yes or No headcount for planning menus and arranging for drivers.

We will be collecting toiletries for the Church of the Ascension this will be your last chance to donate. Remember that A Scout is Helpful. (It is your choice of bring any of the following items: shampoo, soap, deodorant, combs, hairbrushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shaving cream, shaving razors or talcum powder.)

There will also be a “Know Knot Challenge” for anyone wants to try. If you beat the challenge  Your patrol will also be awarded points. (click here for challenge info)

 


Troop Meeting Friday December 21, 2012

We will be working on First Aid skills and the Two Half Hitches Knot. Please review Boy Scout Handbook – First Aid Chapter 4, starting on pg. 125 and be sure to bring your handbook to the meeting. (Patrol Points). Uniform: Class A

Winnebago Scout Reservation– Camping Trip Cabins, If you plan on attending the
January 11-13, 2013 trip please bring signed permission slip and payment of $30. The
cutoff date if you want to attend this trip is Jan 4th. (Permission slips on Troop Web Site)

• Collecting Toiletries
We will be collecting toiletries for the Lakeside Manor at the meeting this week. It is
your choice of to bring any of the following items: shampoo, soap, deodorant, combs,
hairbrushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shaving cream, shaving razors or talcum
powder. These will be distributed to Senior Citizens at the Church of the Ascension’s
annual holiday luncheon in January.(Community Service Flyer)

The “Know Knot Challenge” will be held for anyone who is ready!


Troop Annual Christmas Party Location change…

Troop 37 Annual Holiday Party
The Annual Christmas Party for Troop 37 & Family is being held on Friday December 14, 2012 at 7:30 pm.

Unfortunately, Pouch Camp and Berlin Lodge are still without power requiring the Troop to move the party to Lower Church Hall of St. Teresa’s.

Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend.  In addition to pizza, soda, hot cocoa / cider, donuts, skits and songs we are expecting a visit from Santa and he needs to know who is coming.


Friday, December 7th, 2012 – Merit Badge Meeting

Merit Badge Meeting
This Friday December 7, 2012, will be a Merit Badge Meeting. Please remember to bring all your merit badge worksheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are taking. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library must be signed out, and please make sure to return any Merit Badge Books when finished.
Service Patrol and Troop Librarians please arrive early to set up.

Ad Altari Dei
Scouts who’ve signed up to earn the Ad Altari Dei religious award are expected to be at the meeting at 7PM to review the next steps of the award with Mr. Nadal.

Knot of the Month” is Two Half Hitches. You also need to know the knots of the previous months (Square Knot, Sheet Bend, and the Clove Hitch). Eagle Ceremony

Eagle Ceremony 7:30 PM Saturday November 24, 2013, St. Teresa’s Conran Hal-1634 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10314 All Scouts are expected to attend. The Troop will be conducting an Eagle Court of Honor for Gabriel Owolabi and Jack Rozak. All Troop 37 Scouts required to attend, please be in Class A Uniform with Merit badge sashes and arrive no later than 7:15 PM. Parents and family are invited. If you haven’t already RSVP’d, please do so to Anne Marie Santo at 917-751-8731 or email her at annemarie.santo@gmail.com Setup for Eagle Court of Honor Saturday Afternoon March 12, 2011 – 3:00 PM Set up for Eagle Court of Honor at Conran Hall Gymnasium and practice for the Color Guard will be at 3:00 PM. Backpacking Trip for November 16-18 has been cancelled

The Backpacking trip for November 16-18 has been cancelled due to logistical difficulties in obtaining an accurate headcount in order make food purchases without wasting Troop funds.

In addition the Blue Trail is closed at this time.

On Friday November 16, 2012, we will hold a regular Troop meeting. Senior Patrol and Patrol Leaders are to prepare a meeting Plan.

In light of recent events with Hurricane Sandy there is an even greater demand placed on the St. Teresa’s food pantry.

Please see the food list below and try and bring the listed or any other food items you can to the meeting this Friday. Remember that a Scout is Helpful and Kind.

Sr. Margaret Mary’s food pantry can sure use your help.

To help you when you go shopping, the following items are always in need and encouraged:

  • Kraft Macaroni & Cheese
  • Betty Crocker Vanilla / Choc Cake Mix
  • Betty Crocker Vanilla / Chocolate Icing

While we try to obtain confirmation of Pouch Camp accessibility, we will still be collecting $25.00 and signed permission slip at the meeting.
We are going to prepare for the upcoming hiking/ backpacking trip to Pouch Camp on November 16th, 17th & 18th.

If you plan on attending the Backpacking trip, you need to bring your money and signed permission slip.

This week Scout Skills Instruction we will work on Hiking/Backpacking – review Boy Scout Handbook pages 262-283. We will also be demonstrating how to cook backpacking meals with a turkey bag.

Collection of  wrapped baskets for the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser  is being differed until a new date can be determined. Please hold on to your basket if you have not already turned it in and we will let you know when we will begin collecting again.

Our Troop meeting starts promptly at 7:30 PM please be on time, Service Patrol, and Senior Patrol should arrive no later than 7:15.

 


Troop Meeting Cancelled for November 2, 2012

In light of the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we are cancelling this weeks Troop meeting as we realize alot of our scouters have more pressing concerns.

We will resume our meetings next week and with the already scheduled plans in place.

If you are attending the Backpacking trip, you MUST bring $25.00 and signed permission slip to the meeting as this is the latest date possible to collect for food necessities.
