Joe Ferretti’s Eagle Project Needs Your Help

My Eagle project will take place at Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Ave. 10306, on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6TH @ 8:30 AM with a rain date of SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7TH. We will be meeting in the main parking lot. The project involves scraping and painting of the fence around the courthouse. All supplies/equipment will be provided, as well as breakfast and lunch.

NO TROOP MEETING THIS WEEK Junior Leadership Training Camping Trip Friday, September 28, 2018

What is JLT? JLT Training is the leadership training given primarily by the Scoutmaster to all the youth leaders in their troop. ALL Boy Scout troops should conduct the JLT course with every leadership shift—whether it is when the youth get a new troop position or a patrol leadership role.

We are going to: Buckhorn NY- Mr. G’s Hunting Camp

 

Camping- Sleeping in Tents      Food – Adults are Cooking-No Patrol Cooking

 

PLEASE BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE BELOW INSTRUCTIONS IN DETAIL:

 

No Backpacks – Use a soft Bag or Duffle /Gym Bag

 

Must Bring [ ]  A Cup to Drink and Eat out of

                    [ ]  Water bottle/ Nalgene (unbreakable type)

                   [ ]  Must Bring a Troop Class B T-shirt (to wear Saturday)

                   [ ]  Hiking Boots / Raingear

                   [ ]  Pack a sandwich/snack for Friday night’s dinner

                    [ ]  Appropriate Clothing (temperatures are going to drop- cooler upstate)

 

**Teams are going to make soda bottle water rockets – bring an empty 2-liter soda bottle(s) if you can****

 

 


Troop Meeting Friday September 21, 2018 – 7:30 pm Uniform Class B

We will continue working on Cooking Requirements. We will also be conducting Boards of Review

Junior Leader Training– Anyone invited to attend JLT, please have your payment and permission slip in by this Friday. Permission Slip can be found (here)

Quail Hill Camping Trip Our first Troop-wide camping trip of the year will be to the Quail Hill Scout Reservation in Manalapan, New Jersey from Friday, October 19 to Sunday, October 21.  We will be sleeping in tents. Cost is $30.  On Saturday, October 20, we will be hiking the historic Battle of Monmouth Trail.  Any scout completing this 11 mile hike can earn a medal.  If you are interested in receiving the medal, please add $6 to your payment.  The permission slip for this trip can be found (here).  All payments are due by Friday, October 5, 2018.

Adventure Park of Long Island Triphttps://longislandadventurepark.org/- Saturday, October 27 at 1 pm.  Cost is $45 per climber.  Parents are welcome.  Anyone climbing must complete a waiver prior to arriving.  Click-(Here) to complete waiver .  Payment is due by Friday, October 12, 2018.

Do a Good Turn- Msgr. Belford has advised me that the St. Teresa’s Food Pantry, which serves the needy in our community, is chronically low on food.  He appreciates the amount of food that we collect during Scouting For Food, but asked if we could do more.  So, once per month, we are going to request donations of non-perishable food items that we can give to the pantry. Our first collection will be this Friday. Please donate if you can. “To whom much is given, much is expected.”

Volunteer Opportunity – The Staten Island Shakespearean Theatre Company needs help with their production of Measure for Measure inside Fort Tompkins at Fort Wadsworth  They need volunteers to help direct audience members to Fort Tompkins from the Visitor Center parking lot, and then helping them with seats (some bring their own), handing out programs, giving out water, and just general help. The have a very large number of elderly people that come see the show and who will need help. The shows are September 15, 16 & 22, 23 at 4:00pm.  If you are interested in helping, please let Mr. Pfuhler know.
