This week’s Troop Meeting Scouts should be in Class A uniform and be sure to bring their Boy Scout Handbook

Our Troop meeting starts promptly at 7:30 PM please be on time, Senior Patrol should arrive no later than 7:15.

We are meeting at the Troop Shed on Friday at 4:30 PM sharp

Please be aware that we are cabin camping and the temperature can still drop significantly, so be sure to pack properly, and please bring the following:

[ ] Bring a Sandwich or brown bag something for your Friday night dinner.
[ ] You must bring your own Cup to drink out of [ ] Nalgene / Water bottle
[ ] Wool or Fleece Hat
[ ] Gloves
[ ] Jacket
[ ] Hiking Boots

For camping trip to Agatha A. Durland Scout Reservation, please review and use the {packing list.} The items will be necessary to insure your health and comfort while participating in the activities planned for a camping trip. Merit Badge Meeting begins at 7:30 PM Class A Uniform

This Friday will be a Merit Badge Meeting. Please remember to bring all your merit badge worksheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are working on. Scouts who signed out Merit Badge Books and have completed the merit badge please return Books to the Librarian. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library must be signed out.

Merit Badge workbooks and requirements/ information can be obtained at Merit Badge Research Center:

If you need a particular Merit Badge Councilor to be present at the meeting be sure to contact them, it is the Scout’s responsibility.

NO MEETING THIS WEEK Alpine Palisades Hike Camping Trip October 27th, 28th, & 29th 2017

The Troop will be tent camping at Alpine Scout for the weekend. We will be Hiking the Palisades Long Path Historic Trail on Saturday from Fort Lee to Alpine Scout Camp

  • [ ] We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon around 4:30 PM.
  • [ ] Scouts and Adults Must Wear “Hiking Boots & Socks”” for Saturday
  • [ ] Bring your own snack/sandwich dinner for Friday evening.
  • [ ] Bring a Day Pack for Hike with the 10 Essentials
  • [ ] Must have Nalgene’s / Canteens for ample water on the Hike
  • [ ] Patrols will be Patrol Cooking. (Except lunch on Saturday-Adults provide on trial)
  • [ ] Bring a mess kit (Cup, Knife, Fork Spoon, & Bowl or Dish)
  • [ ] Pack appropriately for the weather (rain gear, warm enough Jacket/hat) using the Camping Personal Checklist. (on Troop web site)
  • [ ] If you have any questions regarding the Trip, contact your Patrol Leader and/or one of the Senior Patrol Leaders.

We could use the help from a couple of Parents to assist with transportation-  on Saturday morning at 8:00 from alpine to Fort Lee.

Court of Honor: Friday, October 13, 2017 7:30 PM Lower Church Hall

This Friday will be a Court of Honor for Troop 37.

A Court of Honor, as the name states, is a ceremony held to present scouts with awards they have earned such as merit badges and rank badges which recognize their achievements.
Scouts should be in Full Class “A“ Uniform with merit badge sashes.
All Parent and Family are encouraged to attend to show their support of their son’s Scouting achievements.
There will be refreshments served immediately following.
Senior Patrol and Screaming Eagles (The Service Patrol) should arrive at 7:00 pm for setup.
Troop 37 Community Service Event -Sunday 10-15-17

The Victory Blvd Merchants Association (VBMA) will be having its annual clean-up day this Sunday, October 15th at 9 a.m. We will be teaming up with local merchants and volunteers from the neighborhood to remove litter and trash between Manor Road and Jewett Avenue. This is a perfect opportunity for Troop 37 to help the many generous merchants who support the Troop with the Pancake Breakfast or with Eagle Projects. Please help out- Parents welcome.
Community Service hours will be credited for Advancement or School

What is JLT? JLT Training is the leadership training given primarily by the Scoutmaster to all the youth leaders in their troop. ALL Boy Scout troops should conduct the JLT course with every leadership shift—whether it is when the youth get a new troop position or a patrol leadership role.

Meeting Friday, September 22, 2017- 7:30 PM

Friday night’s meeting will be working on Knife and Axe Safety and also going to be a preparation of Troop Equipment for Junior Leader Training (JLT).  Class A Uniform –Board of Reviews will also be conducted – If you need one be sure to bring your Scout Handbook.

Junior Leader Training (JLT) We will also be getting a headcount for JLT trip on weekend of Sep. 29 – Oct. 01. JLT Training is the leadership training given to all the youth leaders (1st Class and above) in their troop. If you were invited to attend JLT please fill out and turn in permission slip (link to form) along with payment of $30.00 Please be sure to turn in your completed Leadership Application Forms at Troop meeting if you are looking for a position. Welcome back! We hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe summer vacation.

We will be conducting our first meeting this Friday, September 8, 2017 in lower church hall at 7:30pm.  Class A uniforms will be the dress for the night.

Parents are asked to attend registration.

$100 for one child / $175 for two children / $225 for 3 children

Friday, May 26th – Merit Badge Meeting

This Friday May 26, 2017, we will be having Merit Badge Meeting in Lower Church Hall @ 7:30pm.  All scouts are to be in Class B uniform Troop T-Shirts to allow Class A uniform to be clean for the Memorial Day Parade. Please remember to bring all your merit badge worksheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are working on. Scouts who signed out Merit Badge Books and have completed the merit badge please return them to Librarian. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library must be signed out.

Memorial Day – Monday 05/29/17 as always Troop 37 will be Handing out Flags at the Staten Island Memorial Day Parade on Forest Avenue along the Parade route just prior to the start of the Parade. Look Sharp “Class A” Uniform. We will meet at 11:20 AM at the NE Corner of Forest Avenue and Hart Boulevard. Bring a water Bottle. We need your help we have a couple thousand Flags to hand out. We are usually done at 1:00 PM. Pickup location upon completion will be at Chase Bank 1480 Forest Avenue – between Marianne Street and Livermore Avenue

To many, Memorial Day, the federal U.S. holiday that takes place every year on the last Monday of May, is just another excuse for a three-day weekend. It’s also known as the day that marks the official start of summer and as a day devoted to getting great deals at the mall. However, the true meaning of Memorial Day goes far beyond barbecues and mattress sales.

The holiday began after the Civil War, and at that time was known as “Decoration Day.” While it was originally founded to honor the soldiers who died in the Civil War, today, Memorial Day is a day to honor all of the Americans who have died in military service.

Americans should take a moment from their day of celebration and leisure to reflect on the brave sacrifices of those who have given their lives for this great nation

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

[ ] Uniform standards are relaxed for this week- Class B UNIFORMS

So they will and clean for Camporee


[ ] Patrol Leaders should have all Camporee forms ready to turn in

(Duty Roster, Menu, Flag Description, Skit Form)


[ ] Last Chance If you did not pay for the Camporee the Cost is- $30.00 – You also need to turn in a Permission Slip. (on web site) Please turn in to Mr. Tim Lattanzio, Troop Treasurer at the beginning of meeting.


The meeting will start at 7:00 PM so please make an effort to be there on time.
