Troop Meeting Friday January 25, 2013

This Friday‘s Merit Badge meeting –“. We will wear Class B” Uniforms due to this Sunday’s Pancake Breakfast. We again ask that all scouts help set up and attend this Sunday’s Pancake Breakfast, and Silent Auction our largest fundraiser of the year.

[ ] This week is a Merit Badge Meeting so please ”BE PREPARED” to work on a merit
badge and bring your worksheets, especially anyone with partials.

[ ] If you have any Troop Merit Badges books you are no longer using please return
them and make sure they are signed back in by the Troop Librarian.

[ ] Bring Scout Handbooks -if you are sitting for a Board of Review

REMINDERS

  • Saturday Jan. 26,   1:30 PM- - SET UP for Pancake Breakfast
  • Sunday   Jan.  27,   7:30 AM Pancake Breakfast - Class A Uniform

January 14, 25, & 13, 2011: Winnebago Scout Reservation Camping Trip Or Community Service at Church of the Ascension

The Troop will be Cabin Camping at Winnebago Scout Reservation, 102 Timberbrook Road, Rockaway NJ, for the weekend. We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon (01/11) meet there at 4:30 PM. (If you are not attending Trip please see below Community Service event where you help is needed by the Troop.)

You must bring your own Cup to drink out of and your Utensil kit (knife, fork, spoon) if you want to eat. (every Scout received a utensil Kit from Santa)

Scouts should pack for this trip using a soft duffle or gym bag rather than backpacks to save on space for loading vehicles.

“Be Prepared” Pack proper clothes for the weather. Dress in LAYERS and bring the following:

  • [ ] Sandwich for Friday night
  • [ ] Hat
  • [ ] Gloves
  • [ ] Heavy Jacket  [ ]  Raingear
  • [ ] Hiking Boots
  • [ ] Extra socks
  • [ ] Cup for drinking (hot chocolate)
  • [ ] Utensil Kit ( everybody got one from Santa)
  • [ ] Money for the Trading Post
  • [ ] Water Bottle or canteen
  • [ ] Day pack/String Pack
  • [ ]10 Essentials
  • [ ] Sleeping Bag (do not need pad)

Scouts / Leaders not going on Camping Trip are requested to Conduct Community Service on Saturday Jan.12, 2013

    • Event: Holiday Service & Dinner For Residents of Lakeside Manor Home for Adults
    • CLASS A UNIFORM REQUIRED
    • Each year, Troop 37 helps support our community by being of service to those in need.  One way we do this is by helping with the above event.  Parents are welcome to assist.


Troop Meeting Friday December 21, 2012

We will be working on First Aid skills and the Two Half Hitches Knot. Please review Boy Scout Handbook – First Aid Chapter 4, starting on pg. 125 and be sure to bring your handbook to the meeting. (Patrol Points). Uniform: Class A

Winnebago Scout Reservation- Camping Trip Cabins, If you plan on attending the
January 11-13, 2013 trip please bring signed permission slip and payment of $30. The
cutoff date if you want to attend this trip is Jan 4th. (Permission slips on Troop Web Site)

• Collecting Toiletries
We will be collecting toiletries for the Lakeside Manor at the meeting this week. It is
your choice of to bring any of the following items: shampoo, soap, deodorant, combs,
hairbrushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shaving cream, shaving razors or talcum
powder. These will be distributed to Senior Citizens at the Church of the Ascension’s
annual holiday luncheon in January.(Community Service Flyer)

The “Know Knot Challenge” will be held for anyone who is ready!


Friday, December 7th, 2012 – Merit Badge Meeting

Merit Badge Meeting
This Friday December 7, 2012, will be a Merit Badge Meeting. Please remember to bring all your merit badge worksheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are taking. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library must be signed out, and please make sure to return any Merit Badge Books when finished.
Service Patrol and Troop Librarians please arrive early to set up.

Collecting Toiletries
We will be collecting toiletries for the Lakeside Manor at the meeting this week. It is your choice of to bring any of the following items: shampoo, soap, deodorant, combs, hairbrushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shaving cream, shaving razors or talcum powder. These will be distributed to Senior Citizens at the Church of the Ascension’s annual holiday luncheon in January.

Troop 37 Annual Holiday Party
The Annual Christmas Party for Troop 37 & Family is being held on Friday December 14, 2012. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. Patrol Leaders and Senior Patrol must obtain an accurate head count for the number of Scouts, Parents, and Sibling who plan on attending.  In addition to pizza, soda, hot cocoa / cider, donuts, skits and songs we are expecting a visit from Santa and he needs to know who is coming.

Ad Altari Dei
Scouts who’ve signed up to earn the Ad Altari Dei religious award are expected to be at the meeting at 7PM to review the next steps of the award with Mr. Nadal.

Knot of the Month” is Two Half Hitches. You also need to know the knots of the previous months (Square Knot, Sheet Bend, and the Clove Hitch).
