Color Guard Volunteers Needed

Attention Scouts. We have been requested to once again provide a Color Guard for the Hurricane Sandy third anniversary solidarity march at South Beach.

Date: This Thursday 10/29
Time: Assemble 6 PM for 6:30 March
Place: Dolphin Fountains at Sand Lane and Fr. Capodanno Blvd.
Duration: about 1-1.5 Hours

2.5 hours of community service time will be awarded to each scout to also compensate for travel time. FULL DRESS UNIFORM, including sash and medals. Last year we were photographed and pictures and stories appeared in papers all around the country. Please respond to Mr. Nadal ASAP if you are able to make it (347-466-0075). Refreshments will be served after the march.


NO TROOP MEETING THIS WEEK-Camping Trip

The Troop will be Tent Camping and Patrol Cooking at Alpine Scout Camp for the weekend and will hike the Historic Palisades Trail.

All scouts attending:

  • We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon (10/23/15) meet there at 4:30 PM. Be in Class “B” Uniform You must wear boots and be sure to bring a Cup to drink out of.

“Be Prepared” Pack proper clothes for the weather. Check the forecast. Dress in LAYERS and bring the following:

  • [ ] Sandwich for Friday night
  • [ ] Hat
  • [ ] Jacket
  • [ ] Raingear
  • [ ] Hiking Boots -A Must- (sneakers can be packed)
  • [ ] Extra socks
  • [ ] Cup for drinking
  • [ ] Sleeping Bag ( pad or air mattress)
  • [ ] Day pack/String Pack for Hike
  • [ ] Day Packs should have room for the Ten Essentials! (Click here to download)
  • [ ] 2 Full Water Bottles or canteen
  • [ ]10 Essentials (including Compass)
  • [ ] Scout Handbook
  • [ ] Money for the Trading Post
  • [ ] Patrol Leaders have a gear list of items you will need from shed.

 

Please review and use the packing list . The items will be necessary to insure your health and comfort while participating in the activities planned for a camping trip. Please, NO radios, iPods, Cell phones, electronic games or other sound emitting electronic devices. ALL clothing items that a scout takes should be permanently marked with their name.

Troop 37 Annual Family-Alumni Canoe Trip June 26th -28th, 2015

Please meet at the shed 4:30 PM sharp for this weekend’s Canoe trip. We are leaving at 5:00 PM. Take note of the following:

 

[ ] Bring a sandwich or something for Friday night’s dinner.
[ ] Make sure you turned in Liability form signed by a Parent
[ ] Pack using a duffle bag or soft pack NO Frame BACKPACKS (save space)

[ ] Bring old sneakers or water shoes for canoeing that won’t fall off –NOT Sandals.
[ ] Bring a wide brim hat / Sunscreen/ sun block for sun protection.
[ ] Bring a cup – You won’t need a mess kit.
[ ] Bring a towel.
[ ] Camp Chair to sit in

[ ] Appropriate Clothing Sweatshirt / Raingear

[ ] We will be sleeping in either tents or lean-tos so bring sleeping bag/ air mattress or pad.

[ ] A Small String bag with Ziploc bag inside or waterproof bag to tie onto canoe for belongings while on river

All payments, Signed Permission Slips, and Release of Liability forms must be returned No Later than June 5, 2015 in order to reserve canoes, purchase food, and arrange for transportation

Boy Scout Troop 37 awarded Best Troop Overall

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The Boy Scouts’ Aquehonga District Camp-o-ree held this weekend at William H. Pouch Scout Camp in Sea View brought together more than 500 Boy Scouts and their troop leaders from nearly all Staten Island troops to learn about friendship, leadership and accomplishment. The first-place winner for the weekend, awarded the Trophy based on points accumulated in the various events, was Boy Scout Troop 37, out of St. Teresa’s R.C. Church, Castleton Corners. The theme of this year’s Camp-o-ree was S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and included competitions in areas like code breaking, building an electro-magnet and spaghetti bridge building in addition to traditional scout skills.

This Friday we begin with our Greenbar meeting, ALL Greenbar members need to be in the Lower Church Hall at 6:30 PM.

This Friday is the cut-off date for STEM Camporee at Pouch on May 15-17, 2015

You must bring Payment $25.00 and Permission Slip (click here).

We need to know Yes or NO that you are attending, there are no Maybe’s!

[ ] Class A Uniform and bring your Totem Chit Card! (except newer Scouts)

Troop Meeting Friday April 10, 2015

This Friday we will be having a regular troop meeting.  Uniform standards are relaxed this week NO UNIFORMS.  Greenbar will be meeting at 6:30 PM prior to the Troop Meeting.

Friday March 27th WEBELOS Crossover / Troop Meeting

This week the Senior WEBELOS are crossing over into the Troop. Uniform is Class A
. Ceremony starts at 7:30 please arrive on time.

Immediately following the crossover ceremony we will have a guest speaker: Police Officer Pica from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police. The Senior Patrol will act as the service patrol so please arrive at 7:00 PM

 

EagleSaturday March 28th, EAGLE SCOUT COURT OF HONOR,    Saint Teresa’s Conran Hall, 1634 Victory Boulevard

All Scouts are expected to attend.

The Troop will be conducting an Eagle Court of Honor for Keith Newman and Christopher Gundacker. As a Troop 37 Scout it is your duty to attend and Honor your fellow Scouts achievements. Those not attending must notify Mr. DiTrani why – prior to ceremony.

Please be in Class A Uniform with Merit badge sashes and arrive no later than 7:15 PM. Parents and family are invited. Refreshments will be served immediately following.

Troop Meeting Friday March 6, 2015 WEBELOS Crossover Ceremony 1

The WEBLOS Scouts are crossing over to be welcomed into Troop 37. The Meeting is starting at 7:30PM. Meet at the lower church hall in complete Class “A” Uniform.  There will be a Uniform Inspection so look sharp.

Green Bar Meeting

This Friday we begin with our Green Bar Meeting, so all Green Bar members need to be in the Lower Church Hall at 6:30 PM and have their meeting ideas/plans for this month. ASPL’s & Patrol Leaders turn in your headcounts for the upcoming Mt. Allamuchy Camping Trip, before Friday’s meeting.
