No Uniforms – Uniform standards are relaxed this week–so wear your favorite T-Shirt. This way your Uniforms will be clean and neat for Scouting for Food and for the Pancake Breakfast.


Our Troop meeting starts promptly at 7:30 PM please be on time, Service Patrol Screaming Eagles should arrive no later than 7:15. The Sly Foxes will be the Honor Patrol


This week we will again work on Lashing Skills continuing with Square Lashing – review Boy Scout Handbook pages 392-400. We will also be prepping and training for the Wilderness Survival Weekend at Pouch Camp (see below)

Wilderness Survival Weekend at Pouch

We are in the process of finalizing plans for the Wilderness Survival Weekend trip at Pouch Camp on the weekend of November 18-20, 2016 On that Friday evening we will be sleeping in Lean-tos. On Saturday, we will build shelters to sleep in that night. Scouts will be cooking their own meals by Patrol. If attending please bring payment of $25 and a signed permission form. Dear Parents/Guardians and Scouts,

This Sunday, November 6th is our annual Pancake Breakfast and Chinese Auction. It is our troop’s biggest fundraiser and we must all work together to make it a success.
Set up for this event will take place on Saturday, November 5th beginning at 6:00 PM in the gym. Please make every effort to have your son help set up.

On Sunday November 6th It is asked that scouts arrive at 7 am, as to allow for setup of kitchen and training for the younger scouts. Class A Uniform. Breakfast service will begin after the conclusion of the 7:30 mass. The Breakfast will continue throughout the morning until 2 PM. After the conclusion of the event, we will be taking up the tables and returning the Gym to its previous state.


I would personally ask that any parents who are available, that you please donate some time to the Troop and help us at set up and/or at the breakfast. There is much to be done.

All Scouts are expected to participate in this fundraiser attendance will be taken and time recorded

Parents and Scouts please DO NOT PARK in Church Parking lot on the day of the Breakfast, we want to ensure there is ample parking for guests attending. Thank you for your cooperation in making our breakfast a success.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Boy Scout Troop 37 and Cub Scout Pack 37 have been invited to be part of the Veterans Day Ceremony hosted by The Nicotra Group on Nov 11th at 900 South Ave.

Class A Uniforms – cleaned & pressed.


We need to be there no later than 8:30 AM, so that we can muster for the ceremony commencement at 9:00 AM. We will be honoring ALL military veterans who attend.

We have also been invited to the complimentary breakfast immediately thereafter.

Fort Wadsworth Camping Trip October 20th, 21st, & 22nd 2016 Camp Hudson Urban Campsite



The Troop will be tent camping at Fort Wadsworth for the weekend. We will be working with CERT on Emergency Preparedness and Search and Rescue

  • [ ] We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon around 5:00 PM.
  • [ ] Scouts and Adults Must bring “Class A Uniform” for Saturday
  • [ ] Bring your own snack/dinner for Friday evening.
  • [ ] Patrols will be Patrol Cooking. (Breakfast on Sunday Morning will be with USCG)
  • [ ] Bring a mess kit (Cup, Knife, Fork Spoon, & Bowl or Dish)
  • [ ] Pack appropriately for the weather (rain gear, warm enough Jacket) using the Camping Personal Checklist. (click here)
  • [ ] If you have any questions regarding the Trip, contact your Patrol Leader and/or one of the Senior Patrol Leaders.

We could use the help from a couple of Parents to assist with transportation  just to drop off on Friday and pick up at Fort Wadsworth on Sunday morning at 12:30.

Friday October 14th Court of Honor 1


On Friday October 14, 2016 at 7:30 PM we be conducting the Fall Court of Honor for our scouts in the Lower Church Hall. A Court of Honor, as the name states, is a ceremony held to present scouts with awards they have earned such as merit badges, rank badges, and other special awards which recognize their achievements.

All Parents are encouraged to attend.

The Court of Honor recognizes all Scout appointments, elections, awards and advancements since the last Court of Honor. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony.  Even if a Scout is not advancing, he should come to every Court of Honor to encourage other Scouts and to be inspired to move forward.

Scouts should be in Full Class AUniform with merit badge sashes worn over the shoulder.

Senior Patrol and Service Patrol- “Black Hawks” should arrive at 7:00 pm for setup.

Fort Wadsworth Trip- October 21, 22, 23, 2016  

ATTENDANCE CUT-OFF PAYMENT We will be camping out in tents at Camp Hudson in Fort Wadsworth. Payment Cut-off is this Friday Oct 14 Cost of Trip is $25 permission-ftwadsworth16” for link to Permission Slip. To attend, payment and permission slip must be turned in. Patrol Leaders need to finalize menus and Headcounts.

Troop 37 CPR Certification Saturday October 8, 2016 9:00 AM Lower Church Hall

cprAmerican Heart Association

provides CPR certification which takes just a few short hours, but can help you add years to someone’s life. The CPR training classes give you the information and the skills you need to help adults, children and infants during breathing and cardiac emergencies.

Family and Friends CPR is for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR skills, choking relief and
    AED awareness, and who does not need a course completion card to meet a job requirement.  
                 It is designed to be shared among close family and friends.

CPR Training will be conducted by Mary Lou Coriasco on Saturday October 8, 2016. Please register with Mary Lou by no later than Wednesday, October 5th.

All Scouts are encouraged to participate.  Cost is $10.00.  Participants must register to attend.

Merit Badge Books – Anyone who borrowed merit badge books from the Troop Library for summer camp please return them this week. Return books directly to the Troop Librarian so that he removes your name from the outstanding books list.    Board of Review (BOR) – We will be conducting a large number of BOR’s. Scouts who require a BOR must first have a Scoutmaster Conference and must also be in Class A uniform and have their Scout Handbook.

Friday night’s meeting is going to be a preparation of Troop Equipment for Junior Leader Training (JLT). Class B Uniform (Troop T-shirts) But get your Class A’s ready for Eagle COH on Saturday.

Board of Reviews will also be conducted – If you need one be sure to bring your Scout Handbook.

Please be sure to bring your completed Leadership Application Forms if you are looking for a position. (link to form) We will also be getting a headcount for JLT.

All Parents, Alumni, Friends, & Supporters of Troop 37 are invited to attend and congratulate our newest Eagle Scouts. As a Troop 37 Scout it is your duty and obligation to attend and honor your fellow Scouts achievements.

Those not attending must notify Mr. DiTrani why – prior to ceremony.

Please be in Class A Uniform with Merit badge sashes worn over shoulder and arrive no later than 7:15 PM.

Parents and family are invited and encouraged to attend.

Fly the United States Flag at Half-Staff on Sunday, September 11, 2016

Sunday, September 11th, 2016 marks the 15 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed in suburban Pennsylvania. Patriot Day serves as a remembrance of the lives lost on that September morning.

On Patriot Day, the President directs that the American flag be flown at half-staff at individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 AM Eastern time, the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center that morning.
