Troop 37 in the GNYC News

Congratulations to ASM Ron Gutierrez for completing Woodbadge training and receiving his certification on March 25, 2012 at the 20th Annual Woodbadge Dining-In.

Allamuchy Trip

We are meeting at the Troop Shed on Friday at 4:30 PM sharp. Please be aware that
we are tent camping and the temperature can drop significantly at night so be sure to
pack properly, and please bring the following:

[ ] Bring a Sandwich or brown bag something for your Friday night dinner.
[ ] You must bring your own Cup to drink out of.
[ ] Wool or Fleece Hat
[ ] Gloves
[ ] Heavy Jacket
[ ] Hiking Boots
[ ] Extra socks
[ ] Money for the Trading Post
[ ] Water Bottle or canteen
[ ]10 Essentials ( including Compass)
[ ]Sleeping Bag / pad
[ ] Scout Handbook
[ ] Day pack/String Pack for hike

For tent camping trip to Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation please review and use the
packing list . The items will be necessary to insure your child’s health and comfort while
participating in the activities planned for a camping trip. Please, NO radios, iPods,
electronic games or other sound emitting electronic devices. ALL clothing items
that a scout takes should be permanently marked with their name.

Directions: From I-80:
Take Exit 25 (Route 206 North, Newton). Take the first ramp to the right. (Follow the
Waterloo Village signs). Take the first right, just before the light, onto Continental Drive.
Go to the end of Continental Drive and turn left onto Waterloo Road. The entrance to
the camp is approximately one mile down, on the right (opposite and a few hundred
yards past the entrance to Waterloo Village).

If you plan on attending the Mt. Allamuchy Trip on April 13, 14, & 15, 2012 you need to
bring your permission slip and payment of $25.00 to the meeting this Friday is the cut

Patrol Leaders must turn in their Patrol Box Inspection Checklists and Menus

This week is a Merit Badge Meeting so please “BE PREPARED” to work on a merit badge and bring worksheets, especially anyone with partials.

If you have any Troop Merit Badges books you are no longer using please return them
and make sure they are signed back in by the Troop Librarian.

If you have any Merit Badge Books of your own you longer need you can donate them
to the Troop Library.

Uniform standards are relaxed this week so wear your “Class B” Troop T-Shirt.

Troop Meeting Friday March 23, 2012

If you plan on attending the Mt. Allamuchy Camping Trip, April 13-15 please bring
signed {permission slip} and payment. Patrol Leaders need to query Patrol members
and obtain head counts.

This week we will again work on Lashing Skills continuing with Round lashing – review
Boy Scout Handbook pages 392-400. We will also be prepping equipment for the
Allamuchy trip.

REMINDER: Patrol Leaders need to conduct an inspection of Patrol Boxes- bring
completed inspection/inventory sheet to meeting. Report can be found on Troop web site in the resource section.

Friday March 9, 2012 Crossover Meeting

Webelos Scouts are crossing over to be welcomed into Troop 37. The Meeting is
starting at 7:30PM. Meet at the lower church hall complete Class “A” Uniform

We are continuing to work on monthly theme “Tracking” read Pg. 226 -228 in the
Nature Chapter of The Boy Scout Handbook

The Knot of the Month is the “Timber Hitch” practice tying it.
Be sure to bring your Boy Scout Handbook to the meeting (Patrol Points).

Service Patrol please arrive by 7:15

REMINDER: Eagle Ceremony Saturday 7:30 PM Conran Hall- All
Scouts are expected to attend.

Troop Meeting Friday February 24, 2012

We are continuing to work on Map and Compass skills read Navigation Chapter in The Boy Scout Handbook Pg. 346 -375 

Please bring the following to the meeting (Patrol Points).

[  ] Boy Scout Handbook

[  ] Compass

[  ] Measurements sheet (completed)  (Blank Copy)

Uniform standards are relaxed this week: Class B Uniform (Troop T-shirt or Sweatshirt or Fleece) and uniform pants, socks, and belt.

Troop Meeting Friday February 17, 2012

Bring a compass to the meeting- we will be working on map and compass skills so
be sure to review map and compass in your handbook before and also to bring
your handbook to the meeting.

Scouts should be dressed in Class A Uniform and “Be Prepared” for an inspection.

The Knot of the Month is the Sheet Bend. The “Know Knot Challenge” will be held
for anyone who is ready! The password is “Topographic”.
