February 10, 11, & 12, 2011: Winter Blast- Ten Mile River Scout Camp

The Troop will be Cabin Camping at Ten Mile River Scout Reservation, Narrowsburg, NY, for the “Winter Blast” weekend. We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon (02/10) meet there at 4:30 PM.

You must bring your own Cup to drink out of.

Scouts should pack for this trip using a soft duffle or gym bag rather than backpacks to save on space for loading vehicles.

Weekend weather forecast is for cold temperatures- high 27°F and Low 7°F. “Be Prepared” Pack proper clothes for the cold weather.   Dress in LAYERS and bring the following:

  • [ ] Heavy Jacket
  • [ ] Hiking Boots
  • [ ] Extra socks
  • [ ] Cup for drinking (hot chocolate)
  • [ ] Sandwich for Friday night

  • [ ] Sleeping Bag


Troop Meeting Friday February 3, 2012- NO UNIFORMS

This week’s meeting everyone’s Scout Uniform can take the day off so you have a chance to get your uniform squared away for Scout Sunday.

Scout Sunday is planned for Sunday, February 5th. The day will begin with meeting at Lower Church at 8:20 am to line up for 9:00 am mass at St. Teresa Church. Following the mass, we will have our annual breakfast at LiGreci’s Staaten, on Forest Ave. beginning at 10:30.

Troop Meeting Friday January 27, 2012- Merit Badge

If you plan on attending the TMR Winter Blast Trip on February 10, 11, & 12, 2012 you need to bring your permission slip and payment of $50.00 to the meeting this Friday.  TMR Winter Blast Permission Slip {Click here}

This week is a Merit Badge Meeting  so please “BE PREPARED” to work on a merit badge and bring worksheets, especially anyone with partials. 

If you have any Troop Merit Badges books you are no longer using please return them and make sure they are signed back in by the Troop Librarian.

If you have any Merit Badge Books of your own you longer need you can donate them to the Troop Library.

 


Troop Meeting-Friday January 20, 2012

We had a fantastic time on the Quail Hill , Scout Reservation Trip and even the bone chilling cold weather couldn’t stop a good game of manhunt.  

Patrol leaders will be signing off on the advancement requirements that scouts completed on the camping trip, and updating advancement records.  Please be sure to bring your Scout Handbook.  Especially if your are sitting for a Board of Review.

 There will also be a “Know Knot Challenge” for anyone wants to try. If you beat the challenge by getting all 7 knots tied under 2 Minutes you will receive a Red Rope. Your patrol will also be awarded Cup points. (click here for challenge info)


January 14, 15, & 16, 2011: Quail Hill Scout Reservation Camping

The Troop will be Cabin Camping Jan 14,15 &16 at Quail Hill Scout Reservation, Manalapan, NJ, for the weekend. We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon (01/14) meet there at 4:30 PM.

The Adult leaders will be cooking for the Troop. Scouts should pack for this trip using a soft duffle or gym bag rather than backpacks to save on space for loading vehicles. If you have not paid the cost of the trip is $25.00.

Troop Meeting –Friday January 6th, 2012

Friday, 7:30 PM January 6th, 2012 is our first Troop Meeting of the New Year.

Scouts should be dressed in Class A Uniform and bring their Scout Handbook so entries can be updated.

The Knot of the Month is the Square Knot. The “Know Knot Challenge” will be held for anyone who is ready!

We will be preparing for our Quail Hill Scout Reservation camping trip on January 13, 14, & 15.

This is the only meeting before the trip to prepare. We need a confirmation Yes or No headcount for planning menus and arranging for drivers.

We will be collecting toiletries for the Church of the Ascension this will be your last chance to donate. Friday, December 16, 2011 Troop Holiday Meeting-At Pouch Camp

This week’s meeting is our Annual Christmas Party for Troop 37 & Family being held at Pouch Camp in Berlin Lodge. Parents and siblings are encouraged to attend. In addition to pizza, soda, Hot cocoa / cider, donuts, skits and songs we are expecting a visit from Santa.

We will be collecting toiletries for the Church of the Ascension at the party.

We need to know if you are attending our Camping Trip to Quail Hill, New Jersey for cabin camping. The trip is on January 13, 14, and 15, with a cost of  $25 per person. If you plan on attending please turn in your PERMISSION FORM [click here] this week at the  party, payment can be made at a later date. We need a headcount for planning menus and arranging for drivers. There is only one meeting in January before the trip to prepare.

Congratulations to Ray Modolo who completed the “Know Knot” Challenge at Friday night’s meeting with time to spare and also gained his Patrol 2 Points!


Friday, December 9,2011 Troop Meeting

We will be collecting toiletries for the Church of the Ascension at the meeting this week.

It is your choice of bring any of the following items:  shampoo, soap, deodorant, combs, hairbrushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, shaving cream, shaving razors or talcum powder.  We will be tracking contributions by Patrol.

We will need a headcount for our trip to Quail Hill, New Jersey for cabin camping.  The trip on January 13, 14, and 15, with a cost of the trip is $25 per person.

The knot of the month is the bowline. You will, also, be expected to tie the knots of the last 3 months along with the bowline at this meeting. There will also be a knot challenge for who is up to it. Your patrol will be awarded points if you make it.

Reminder that this Friday is a merit badge meeting. Please remember to bring all your merit badge sheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are taking.

The knot of the month is the bowline. You also need to know the knots of the previous months (clove hitch, 2 half hitches, and the taught line hitch).

Wear your class a uniform.
