Troop Merit Badge Meeting begins at 7:30 PM

we will be having Merit Badge Meeting in Lower Church Hall @ 7:30pm.  All scouts are to be in Class B Uniform (NO SLIDES) This way your Class A is clean and pressed for Scouting for Food and Pancake Breakfast Troop fundraiser. Please remember to bring all your merit badge worksheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are working on. Scouts who signed out Merit Badge Books and have completed the merit badge please return them to Librarian. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library must be signed out. Troop Librarians please arrive early to set up Library.

Service Patrol:  Panthers please arrive early to set up LCH.

Scouting for Food – Community Service Event

Troop 37 will be participating in Class A Uniform and cover a 3 hour shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Stop & Shop Supermarket, 1441 Richmond Ave., Staten Island, NY. During this time, the members of the unit will hand entering shoppers a flyer and ask them to purchase non-perishable goods to donate upon exiting the store.  All goods donated will support Saint Teresa’s Food Pantry, and will be given directly to Staten Island’s needy for the Holiday season. Service time will be credited towards advancement or other requirements.

Set Up for Pancake Breakfast

We are scheduled to SETUP for the Pancake Breakfast at St. Teresa Conran Hall on Saturday, Evening November 4th, starting at 6:00 pm.

 

Sunday November 5, 2017

Troop 37 Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

Sunday, November 5th is our annual Pancake Breakfast and Basket Bash It is our troop’s biggest fundraiser and we must all work together to make it a success. Set up for this event will take place on Saturday, November 4th beginning at 6:00 PM in the gym. Please make every effort to have your son help set up. On Sunday November 5th Class A Uniform. Breakfast service will begin after the conclusion of the 7:30 mass. The Breakfast will continue throughout the morning until 2 PM. After the conclusion of the event, we will be taking up the tables and returning the Gym to its previous state. More to Follow

Veterans Day Ceremony

Boy Scout Troop 37 along with Cub Pack 37 has been requested to be the Color guard for the Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday November 10, 2017 at Corporate Park 900 South Avenue, Staten Island. The ceremony will last about 20 minutes. We have been invited to a complimentary breakfast at Hampton Inn immediately following. Everyone is welcome to attend. Class A uniforms – Cleaned and pressed – Look sharp, Shoes or Boots – no sneakers “Slides”, or sport shoes. Please arrive no later than 8:30 am This event counts as Community Service for Rank Advancement

Backpacking Trip to Pouch Camp

The weekend of Friday November 17th is our annual Backpacking Trip to Pouch Camp.  It’s one of the most exciting and fun trips we have. On Friday night we all come to the meeting at regular time with our packs already packed. We wake up the next morning for breakfast and then with our backpacks and equipment hike the greenbelt blue trail to pouch camp. If you are planning on attending the November 17-19 Backpacking Trip to pouch Camp please bring Permission slip and $25.00 payment to the Troop meeting this week. (Click here to download Permission)

Alpine Camping Trip-Historic Trail Hike

The Troop will be Tent Camping at Alpine Scout Camp for the weekend and will hike the Historic Palisades Trail. Patrols will be Patrol cooking with the exception of Lunch on Saturday which will be provided on the hike. Scouts and Scouters completing the Hike will earn the Historic Trails Award. Friday, June 6th – Regular Troop Meeting

This Friday there will be having our regular Troop meeting in Lower Church Hall @ 7:30pm.  All scouts are to be in Class A uniform with handbooks.

June 7th – Keep Staten Island Clean Service Hours:

  • On Saturday, June 7, 2014, in conjunction with the Parks Department, Bay Terrace Civic Association, Yellowboots, and others, there will be a clean up of Buffalo Street from Hylan Boulevard to Durant Avenue. Currently, the clean up is scheduled to begin at around 9/10 AM and last until1 PM.
  • Anyone who has need of service hours and wishes to help should email myself (smh428@gmail.com) and Mr. Steve LoBaido (sitreeguy9667@aol.com) to inform us that you will be in attendance.

Troop 37 Family & Alumni Canoe Trip Friday – Jun 20th – Jun 22nd : {CanoeTripFlyer2014}

  • The required Liability Form {Click HereMUST BE COMPLETED FOR EACH PERSON CANOEING and signed by Parents of those under 18 yrs of age and Permission Slip {Click Here} for all Scouts
  • All payments, Signed Permission Slips, and Release of Liability forms must be returned No Later than June 6, 2014 in order to reserve canoes, purchase food, and arrange for transportation. No replies necessary please, just payment and forms in order to attend.

HMSR Summer Camp:

  • Medicals: We are accepting completed medical forms, OTC Medication form, Dietary Needs forms and a copy of the scouts health insurance card (Front and Back) . They must be in duplicate AND stapled in order for us to accept them. If you have these already completed, please bring them to any meeting to provide to Mr. Nadal or myself.
  • Merit Badge Selections are Due. Cooking and Welding Merit Badges are closed out, so if you had been planning to take either of these please submit your alternate selections. Mr. Liu (p.liu@earthlink.net) and I (smh428@gmail.com) will accept selections via email this week as well.
    • Currently, we are missing the selections of 4 scouts.  Please email or bring your choices to this Fridays meeting.
    • All merit badges that have pre-requirements and need Leader sign off should be brought to a meeting and reviewed with an available leader. Please have a completed form letter filled out and ready for the Leaders signature.  {Click here to download Form Letter}

Friday, April 11th – Mandatory Parents Summer Camp Meeting

This Friday we will be having a Mandatory Parents Summer Camp meeting.  At least one parent/guardian is required to attend to pick up the necessary literature and forms for your scouts to attend summer camp and pay the second installlment.  Please make every effort to attend.

All scouts are to be in Class A uniform and will be doing a camping equipment shake out in preparation for Durland Camping Trip.

GNYC Camporee: registration deadline is April 16th, so we require those attending to submit their payment and signed permission slips this Friday. {Download permission slip here}.

Durland Scout Reservation: With no meeting on the Friday before the camping trip we will require the payment and signed permission slips for the Durland Camping as well. {Download permission slip here}.

This Friday we will be having our regular Troop meeting for those scouts not attending the Family Ski Trip.

Those attending the Ski Trip are to meet at the shed by 4:30pm.

Scouts are to be in Class A uniform and have their handbooks with them.

Friday, Feb 21st – Regular Troop Meeting

This Friday we will be having a Regular Troop Meeting.  All scouts should be in Class A uniform. We will be in Class A Uniform.

HMSR Summer Camp Reservation:  If your scout wishes to attend Hawk Mountain Summer Camp this is the last meeting to submit the $65 required to secure the campsites for the Troop. 

Winter Blast at TMR will be next week’s trip.  All scouts who signed up must have the following:

  • Soft duffel bag for clothes
  • Sleeping bag
  • Hat/Gloves/Jacket
  • Warm      clothes (plan for wet clothes)
  • Boots(waterproof preferred), a few extra pairs of socks and a second pair of shoes
  • Full Water      Bottle / Drinking Cup / Fork,Spoon and Knife (There will be no utensils provided by Troop or Organizers)

Leaders are expected to assist with Stations and Meal Times.

Friday, Feb. 7th – Regular Troop Meeting

This Friday we will be having a Regular Troop Meeting.  All scouts should be in Class A uniform. Our Class A uniform will require you to wear your new 60th Anniversary neckerchiefs. These will the neckerchiefs we use for all of 2014.

Scout Sunday was a great success.  I have received nothing but compliments about the behavior of the scouts during the course of the entire day!  I would like to thank all of our scouts for demonstrating once again that you are truly fine young men and I am proud to work with you.

Our next two events require you to submit your payments, if you wish to attend by this Friday’s meeting, February 7, 2014

Feb 28th – Mar 2nd – Winter Blast @ TMR – In order to secure a place for our Troop to attend we must have a final headcount and payment to GNYC by February Roundtable, Feb 10thThe cost is $60 per person and we will require everyone’s monies no later than February 7th’s meeting as well as a signed permission slip (Click here to download).  Please make checks payable to “BSA Troop 37”.

March 7th – 9thSki Trip – Anyone interested in attending the March Ski Trip, will  need to bring a minimum payment of $50 no later than February 7th troop meeting. This is a non-refundable payment to secure the lodging reservations and make checks payable to “BSA Troop 37”.  All payments must be accompanied by a fully completed permission slip (Click Here to download).

We will be mustering at the shed @ 4PM, no later than 4:30PM, Winnebago       Camping Trip.

  • Everyone MUST be in hiking boots! No sneakers! (Sneakers can be packed)
  • Pack in Soft Duffel Bags – Proper Clothing for weather (Cold and Wet)
  • Have Day Packs in backpack for Saturday hike.
  • Day Packs should have room for the Ten Essentials! (List on website)
  • Have FULL water bottles (Santa gave it to you to use).
  • Bring a sandwich and drink for Friday evening.
  • Be in Class “B”

All monies are to be paid no later than Friday, January 24th.  Parents and siblings are $25 per person.  The Troop is covering the cost for all active Scouts of Troop 37.
