Boy Scout Troop 37 awarded Best Troop Overall

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The Boy Scouts’ Aquehonga District Camp-o-ree held this weekend at William H. Pouch Scout Camp in Sea View brought together more than 500 Boy Scouts and their troop leaders from nearly all Staten Island troops to learn about friendship, leadership and accomplishment. The first-place winner for the weekend, awarded the Trophy based on points accumulated in the various events, was Boy Scout Troop 37, out of St. Teresa’s R.C. Church, Castleton Corners. The theme of this year’s Camp-o-ree was S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and included competitions in areas like code breaking, building an electro-magnet and spaghetti bridge building in addition to traditional scout skills.

Those attending the Camporee on May 15-17, 2015 at Pouch Camp please be at the Camporee Field by 4:30 P.M. (Manor Road across from the JCC).

[ ] Make sure you are Wearing Boots and in Full “Class A” Uniform including Scout Socks.

[ ] Everyone should pack your Backpack accordingly and be prepared for the check list inspection at the check in.

[ ] Pack A sandwich for Friday nights dinner

[ ] Remember to Pack your “Class B” Troop T-shirt

 and most importantly don’t forget your [ ] Scout Spirit

Patrol Leaders be sure to bring: [ ] Rosters and [ ] Menus [ ] Patrol Flags    [ ] Have a Patrol Cheer, Yell, or Call [ ] Patrol Chuck Boxes and metal Legs. [ ] a String Bag Pack,

[ ] Uniform standards are relaxed for this week- NO UNIFORMS

So they will and clean for Camporee

[ ] If you did not pay for the Camporee the Cost is- $25.00 – You also need to turn in a Permission Slip {Permission-Camporee15}. Please turn in to Mrs. Nadal, Troop Treasurer at the beginning of meeting.

Going to Summer Camp? Have you made your hotel reservations?

Are you going to summer camp?  Have you chosen what Merit Badges you wish to take?  If you did, you need to send your choices to Mr. Holland. You can hand them in at any meeting or you can even email them to Mr. Holland.

Be sure to include your name, the full name of the Merit Badge and the time of the class in your request.  Also, be sure to read what the prerequisites are. You are responsible to complete and bring proof with you to summer camp.

Troop Meeting Friday May 1, 2015

Greenbar Meeting at 6:30

This Friday we begin with our Greenbar meeting, ALL Greenbar members need to be in the Lower Church Hall at 6:30 PM.

This Friday is the cut-off date for STEM Camporee at Pouch on May 15-17, 2015

You must bring Payment $25.00 and Permission Slip (click here).

We need to know Yes or NO that you are attending, there are no Maybe’s!

[ ] Class A Uniform and bring your Totem Chit Card! (except newer Scouts)

[ ]   Patrol Leaders be ready to complete you Patrol flags

[ ]   Patrol Leaders Have Menus Ready and Patrol Headcount for Camporee

[ ]   Senior Patrol have Gateway plans and coordinate Camporee headcountstem


The Troop will be Tent Camping and Patrol Cooking at Quail Hill Scout Camp for the weekend as part of Camporee preparation

We will depart from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon (04/24/15) meet there at 4:30 PM. You must wear boots and be sure to bring a Cup to drink out of.

“Be Prepared” Pack proper clothes for the weather. Check the forecast. Dress in LAYERS and bring the following:

* [ ] Raingear

* [ ] Hiking Boots -A Must-

* [ ] Extra socks

* [ ] Cup for drinking

* [ ] Sleeping Bag ( pad or air mattress)

* [ ] Day pack/String Pack for Hike

* [ ] Water Bottle or canteen

* [ ]10 Essentials (including Compass)

* [ ] Scout Handbook

* [ ] Money for the Trading Post Please review and use the packing list . The items will be necessary to insure your health and comfort while participating in the activities planned for a camping trip. Please, NO radios, iPods, electronic games or other sound emitting electronic devices. ALL clothing items that a scout takes should be permanently marked with their name.

Friday, April 17th – Mandatory Parents Summer Camp Meeting

This Friday we will be having a Mandatory Parents Summer Camp meeting beginning @ 7:30pm.  At least one parent/guardian is required to attend to pick up the necessary literature and forms for your scouts to attend summer camp and pay the second installlment.  Please make every effort to attend.

All scouts are to be in Class A uniform and will be working on gateway designs and construction in preparation for Camporee.


Troop Meeting Friday April 10, 2015

This Friday we will be having a regular troop meeting.  Uniform standards are relaxed this week NO UNIFORMS.  Greenbar will be meeting at 6:30 PM prior to the Troop Meeting.

If you plan on attending the Quail Hill Camping Trip (Tents) April 24th, 25th, & 26th. Please bring your permission slip and payment of $30.00 to the meeting on Friday. This will be the Troops Camporee preparation Trip. Quail Hill Permission Slip {Click Here}


Friday March 27th WEBELOS Crossover / Troop Meeting

This week the Senior WEBELOS are crossing over into the Troop. Uniform is Class A
. Ceremony starts at 7:30 please arrive on time.

Immediately following the crossover ceremony we will have a guest speaker: Police Officer Pica from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police. The Senior Patrol will act as the service patrol so please arrive at 7:00 PM


EagleSaturday March 28th, EAGLE SCOUT COURT OF HONOR,    Saint Teresa’s Conran Hall, 1634 Victory Boulevard

All Scouts are expected to attend.

The Troop will be conducting an Eagle Court of Honor for Keith Newman and Christopher Gundacker. As a Troop 37 Scout it is your duty to attend and Honor your fellow Scouts achievements. Those not attending must notify Mr. DiTrani why – prior to ceremony.

Please be in Class A Uniform with Merit badge sashes and arrive no later than 7:15 PM. Parents and family are invited. Refreshments will be served immediately following.
