Please be aware that we are cabin camping and the temperature can still drop significantly, so be sure to pack properly, and please bring the following:

The WEBLOS Scouts are crossing over to be welcomed into Troop 37. The Meeting is starting at 7:30PM. Meet at the lower church hall in complete Class “A” Uniform

The Troop will be conducting an Eagle Court of Honor for Benjamin Lattanzio and Joseph Nadal. As a Troop 37 Scout it is your duty to attend and Honor your fellow Scouts achievements.

Those not attending must notify Mr. DiTrani why – prior to ceremony.

Please be in Class A Uniform with Merit badge sashes and arrive no later than 7:15 PM. Parents and family are invited. Refreshments will be served immediately following.

Robert Jakubowski Eagle Project

To all scouts, leaders, and parents,

The time has come for me to take the next step on my road to Eagle. My eagle project will be taking place at Great Kills Park located at the corner of Hylan Blvd. and Buffalo St. on Saturday March, 12 beginning at 8:30-9 AM. We will be meeting at the Education Field Station. The field station is located past the large parking lot on your left and the ranger building on your right. Signs will indicate where to go. Back-in parking to the fence.

The project will consist of painting and mounting new bird feeders, cleaning existing feeders, and cleaning/sweeping the site and building. Supplies will be provided as well as food and drink. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date will be provided in the near future.

If you will be able to attend please email me or let me know at this Friday’s meeting.

This Friday March 4, 2015, will be a Merit Badge Meeting. Please remember to bring all your merit badge worksheets, books, and any other necessary items needed for the merit badge that you are working on. Scouts who signed out Merit Badge Books and have completed the merit badge please return them to Librarian. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library must be signed out.

Durland Scout Reservation Camping Trip

We are in the process of finalizing plans for the Durland Scout Reservation Camping Trip on the weekend of March 18-20, 2016. It will be cabin camping and the Adults will be cooking. To properly order the appropriate amount of food, supplies, and ensure adequate vehicle transportation we need to know who is attending by Friday 03/04/16, if attending – please bring payment of $30 and a signed permission form. Friday night’s meeting is going to be a preparation for the Klondike Derby. We are building Sleds. NO Uniforms but dress warm, we will be outside for part of meeting. Patrol Leaders bring a winter Backpack packed according to Klondike checklist

Scouts and Leaders/Adults report to the Camporee Field (across from JCC) at 8:00 AM for check-in and registration, Boots (no sneakers) and appropriately dressed (warm coat/jacket, hat, gloves etc.) Dress in layers. Each Scout should bring a bag lunch to be eaten on the trail. Soup and hot chocolate will be provided at the Red Dog Saloon (Camp Master Cabin). 16 Scouts and 5 Adults from Troop 37 will be braving the cold, camping in Tents at Valley Forge National Historic Park for the weekend and participating in the Valley Forge Encampment and Pilgrimage (VFEP)


Departing from the Troop shed on Friday afternoon (02/12/16) meet there at 3:00 PM

You must wear boots and be sure to bring

[ ] Cup to drink out of

[ ] Nalgene Bottle

[ ] Sandwich for Friday night

[ ] Brown Paper Bag to put your boots into at night

[ ] Day Pack/ String bag

[ ] Hand warmers

Scouts should pack for this trip using a soft duffle or gym bag rather than backpacks to save on space for loading vehicles.

Be Really Prepared” Pack proper and ample clothes for the weather. Temperatures are expected in the teens. Check the forecast. Dress in LAYERS and pack according to the VFEP Checklist (here) that was also provided.

The Valley Forge Pilgrimage and Encampment is the oldest annual Scouting event in the World. It was first held on February 22, 1913, and it commemorates the soldiers of the Continental Army who braved the winter of 1777-78 at Valley Forge. Each year more than 2,000 brave the winter chill of the Delaware Valley to participate. The event itself is divided into two parts: the Encampment, in which Scouts camp from Friday through Sunday on the Presidents’ Weekend, and the Pilgrimage which is all day Saturday. During the Pilgrimage, participants move around the Valley Forge National Historic Park to hear volunteer interpreters from the National Park Service tell how the Continentals lived. There will also be reenactments throughout the day. Replicas of the original huts provide a glimpse of daily life. Conditions during the winter were poor, so the stories are also told how more than 2,000 soldiers died from typhus, dysentery, typhoid and pneumonia. To participate in this event Scouts must meet age requirements and were required to undertake a special Cold Weather Camping Training.

If you plan on attending the Valley Forge Encampment and Pilgrimage Trip held on February 12th,13th, &14th. You Must Be at least 13 Years old. Please be sure to bring $45.00 payment and BOTH signed a Permission Slip (attached) and Medical Consent Form (attached) with you to the meeting this Friday.

This Friday February 5, 2016, we will wear Class B” T-shirts, Troop Sweatshirts, or Fleece so that everyone’s uniform shirt and pants will be cleaned / pressed and looking sharp for Scout Sunday February 7th at 10:00 AM Mass and the 11:45 Breakfast at the Staaten. At the meeting we will be conducting Board of Reviews, continuing Cold Weather Camping Training and preparation for the Valley Forge Encampment / Pilgrimage Trip.

This year’s Scout Sunday mass will be held this Sunday, February 7th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.  Scouts are requested to assemble in the Lower Church Hall in full Class A uniforms no later than 9:30 a.m. The cost of the breakfast, remains the same as last year, $25.00 per person regardless of age. All current scouts attending are FREE and will be paid for by the troop. Parents If you have not paid for your tickets yet, please make arrangements with Mrs. Nadal
