Court of Honor: Friday, October 13, 2017 7:30 PM Lower Church Hall

This Friday will be a Court of Honor for Troop 37.

A Court of Honor, as the name states, is a ceremony held to present scouts with awards they have earned such as merit badges and rank badges which recognize their achievements.
Scouts should be in Full Class “A“ Uniform with merit badge sashes.
All Parent and Family are encouraged to attend to show their support of their son’s Scouting achievements.
There will be refreshments served immediately following.
Senior Patrol and Screaming Eagles (The Service Patrol) should arrive at 7:00 pm for setup.
Troop 37 Community Service Event -Sunday 10-15-17

The Victory Blvd Merchants Association (VBMA) will be having its annual clean-up day this Sunday, October 15th at 9 a.m. We will be teaming up with local merchants and volunteers from the neighborhood to remove litter and trash between Manor Road and Jewett Avenue. This is a perfect opportunity for Troop 37 to help the many generous merchants who support the Troop with the Pancake Breakfast or with Eagle Projects. Please help out- Parents welcome.
Community Service hours will be credited for Advancement or School

Greenbar / PLC  Meeting at 6:30

Religious Emblem Training at 6:30

This Friday we begin with our Greenbar / PLC meeting,  ALL Greenbar members need to be in the Lower Church Hall at 6:30 PM.

Scouts working on Religious Emblem will meet at 6:30 prior to the regular Troop meeting


Regular Troop Meeting begins at 7:30 PM

[  ] Class A Uniform This week Scout Skills Instruction we will work on Hiking Skills – review Boy Scout Handbook pages 262-283. All scouts should have their handbooks for Patrol corners.   We will also be prepping equipment for the Alpine / Palisades Historic Trail Hike Camping Trip Oct. 27, 28 & 29


REMINDER: Last Year’s Patrol Leaders need to:

[  ] Return their Patrol Boxes at this week’s Meeting.

[  ] Conduct an inventory of their Patrol box and bring completed report and Patrol Box to meeting. Report can be found on Troop web site in the resources section.

Alpine Camping Trip-Historic Trail Hike

The Troop will be Tent Camping at Alpine Scout Camp for the weekend and will hike the Historic Palisades Trail. Patrols will be Patrol cooking with the exception of Lunch on Saturday which will be provided on the hike. Scouts and Scouters completing the Hike will earn the Historic Trails Award. The cost of the Trip will be $30.00 permission slips will be available below.  Cut -Off Date for payment and slip October 20

What is JLT? JLT Training is the leadership training given primarily by the Scoutmaster to all the youth leaders in their troop. ALL Boy Scout troops should conduct the JLT course with every leadership shift—whether it is when the youth get a new troop position or a patrol leadership role.

Camping- Sleeping in Tents      Food – Adults are Cooking-No Patrol Cooking




No Backpacks – Use a soft Bag or Duffle /gym Bag


Must Bring [ ]  A Cup to Drink and Eat out of

                    [ ]  Water bottle/ Nalgene (unbreakable type)

                   [ ]  Must Bring a Troop Class B T-shirt (to wear Saturday)

                   [ ]  Hiking Boots / Raingear

                   [ ]  Pack a sandwich/snack for Friday night’s dinner

                    [ ]  Appropriate Clothing (temperatures are going to drop- cooler upstate)


**Teams are going to make soda bottle water rockets – bring an empty 2-liter soda bottle(s) if you can****



Meeting Friday, September 22, 2017- 7:30 PM

Friday night’s meeting will be working on Knife and Axe Safety and also going to be a preparation of Troop Equipment for Junior Leader Training (JLT).  Class A Uniform –Board of Reviews will also be conducted – If you need one be sure to bring your Scout Handbook.

Junior Leader Training (JLT) We will also be getting a headcount for JLT trip on weekend of Sep. 29 – Oct. 01. JLT Training is the leadership training given to all the youth leaders (1st Class and above) in their troop. If you were invited to attend JLT please fill out and turn in permission slip (link to form) along with payment of $30.00 Please be sure to turn in your completed Leadership Application Forms at Troop meeting if you are looking for a position. Friday, September 8, 2017 Troop 37 Meeting – Registration Night

Welcome back! We hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe summer vacation.

We will be conducting our first meeting this Friday, September 8, 2017 in lower church hall at 7:30pm.  Class A uniforms will be the dress for the night.

Parents are asked to attend registration.

Please note our Registration Fees.

$100 for one child / $175 for two children / $225 for 3 children
