Those attending the Camporee on May 17-19, 2012 at Pouch Camp please be at the
Camporee Field by 5:00 P.M. (Manor Road across from the JCC).

[ ] Make sure you are Wearing Boots and in Full “Class A” Uniform including Scout Socks.

[ ] Everyone should pack your Backpack accordingly and be prepared for the check list
inspection at the check in.

[ ] Remember to Pack your “Class B” Troop T-shirt

 and most importantly don’t forget your [ ] Scout Spirit

Patrol Leaders be sure to bring: [ ] Rosters and [ ] Menus [ ] Patrol Flags [ ] Have a Patrol Cheer, Yell, or Call [ ] Patrol Chuck Boxes and metal Legs. [ ] a String Bag Pack,

Mandatory Troop Parents Meeting- at least one parent for each Scout must attend. We will be presenting the Troop Charter and have a presentation from Friends of Scouting.

We are meeting at the Troop Shed on Friday at 4:30 PM sharp. Please be aware that
we are tent camping and the temperature can drop significantly at night so be sure to
pack properly, and please bring the following:

[ ] Bring a Sandwich or brown bag something for your Friday night dinner.
[ ] You must bring your own Cup to drink out of.
[ ] Wool or Fleece Hat
[ ] Gloves
[ ] Jacket
[ ] Hiking Boots
[ ] Extra socks
[ ] Money for the Trading Post
[ ] Water Bottle or canteen
[ ]10 Essentials
[ ]Sleeping Bag / foam pad or  air mattress
[ ] Scout Handbook

For tent camping trip to Agatha A. Durland Scout Reservation, please review and use the
packing list. The items will be necessary to insure your health and comfort while
participating in the activities planned for a camping trip. Please, NO radios, iPods,
electronic games or other sound emitting electronic devices. ALL clothing items
that a scout takes should be permanently marked with their name.

This week we will again work on Lashing Skills continuing with Square Lashing – review Boy Scout Handbook pages 392-400. We will also be prepping equipment for the Durland Camping trip. (see below)

We are in the process of finalizing plans for the Agatha A. Durland Scout Reservation, Camping Trip on the weekend of April 19-21, 2013. Durland Scout reservation is located at 1 Clear Lake, Putnam Valley, NY 10579. We will be tent camping. Scouts will be cooking their own meals by Patrol.

Knots of the Month : Square Lashing

The President of NY Container Terminal, Jim Devine, a scout as a youth talked to the Scouts and Todd Stevens General Manager (Eagle Scout) was our tour guide for the entire event he gave a real nice tour.

We will meet at 9:30 am in the parking lot of the New York Container Terminal at 300 Western Avenue, Staten Island, NY and will enter together as a group at 9:50 am.

We have a rather sizable group attending in addition to Troop 37 so I ask for everyone to arrive promptly so that we may get started on time.

Please Note:

• Class A” Uniform with neckerchief is required.
• Must wear closed toed shoes, sneakers,or boots must be tied, no hanging laces.
• Tour is for Scouts only no siblings please (Adults may accompany)
• Meet in the Parking lot at 9:30 AM Sharp.
