Troop Meeting Friday November 4, 2011

This week’s meeting we will be preparing for our Backpacking Trip to Pouch Camp on November 18th, 19th & 20th. Cost of the Trip will be $25.00. Payment and permission signed slips must be submitted by cutoff date of Friday November 11th in order to attend trip. We need to have an accurate headcount in order to plan and purchase enough backpacking meals.

Knot of the Month is “Two Half Hitches” be prepared to tie it.

Court of Honor: Friday, October 28, 2011

On Friday will be our Fall Court of Honor for our scouts. A Court of Honor, as the name states, is a ceremony held to present scouts with awards they have earned such as merit badges and rank badges which recognize their achievements. Scouts should be in full class A uniform with their merit badge sashes. Senior Patrol and Service patrol should arrive at 7:00 pm for setup.

When a scout receive the rank of Star or higher (the upper ranks), the mother is presented with a ribbon.

All are encouraged to attend with refreshments being served immediately after.

October 21, 2011: Merit Badge Meeting

This Friday will be our merit badge meeting. Scouts are encouraged to bring any and all materials or workbooks that they need for their merit badges. All Merit Badge Books from the Troop library mustbe signed out, and please make sure to return any Merit Badge Books when finished.

You will also be practicing the Clove Hitch and the Taught Line Hitch knots at this meeting. Be Prepared.

Troop 37 Chinese Auction Reminder

We will be collecting all the wrapped baskets for the Chinese Auction at this weeks meeting, October 21st, and at the Court of Honor on October 28th.

If anyone has anything else they would like to donate they can bring it then as well.

Camping Trip Alpine Scout Camp NJ- Friday, October 14-16

The Troop will be tent Camping at Alpine Buckhorn sites 13 & 14 for the weekend. We will depart from the Troop shed on  Friday afternoon around 4:30  PM. Alpine Scout Camp is 35 miles away and takes approx. 45 minutes to get to.  We desperately need help from a couple of Parents to assist with transportation- just to drop off on Friday and pick up at Camp on Sunday morning at 11:30.  The Patrols will be Patrol Cooking. Bring your own snack/dinner for Friday evening. Scouts should pack appropriately for this using the camping Checklist. If you have any questions contact your Patrol and/or Senior Patrol Leader.  The cost of the trip is $25.00.  If you do not turn in a permission slip you will NOT attend!

TROOP #37 – Calling all Scouts 10/09/11

 Troop needs the assistance of Scouts, Parents, older brother and sisters, and/or friends to assist with staffing two water stations for the Staten Island Half Marathon:

WHEN: Sunday October 9, 2011  - 7:30 am to 11:30 am

WHERE: Corner of Father Capodanno Blvd and McClean Ave.   

                                                                   (back entrance to Ft Wadsworth)

WHO: Scouts, Adults, older Brother and Sisters, Friends

WHAT: No uniforms necessary

HOW:  We will be filling cups with water and then passing them to the runners. You will be home before noon.

WHY: Community Service -All time spent assisting will count as Community  Service for advancement.

 Please arrive by 7:30 am to be accounted for

PALA is designed to motivate participants to be physically active on a regular basis by doing activities they enjoy like walking, hiking, playing outside with kids, mowing the lawn, yoga, and more. Merit Badge Books – Anyone who borrowed merit badge books from the Troop Library for summer camp please return them this week. Return books directly to the Troop Librarian so that he removes your name from the outstanding books list. 
 
Board of Review (BOR) – We will be conducting a large number of BOR’s. Scouts who require a BOR must first have a Scoutmaster Conference and must also be in Class A uniform and have their Scout Handbook.

Friday September 9, 2011 7:30 is our first Troop meeting / Registration

Friday, 7:30 PM September 9, 2011 is our first Troop Meeting and we will be conducting registration. Please be sure to bring the $85.00 annual registration fee. Scouts should be dressed in class a Uniform and bring their Scout Handbook so entries from summer camp can be recorded. The Knot of the Month is the Clove Hitch.
